With the onset of cold weather for sleek and dogs with poor thermoregulation (cold dogs of small breeds are especially hard to bear), warm clothing is a must. So that on the street your pet does not beat off the shot with its paws and the "Morsech" teeth, and could enjoy the walk, you need to wear it. And one of the options for warm clothing – knitted.
Knitted clothes are good because they do not hinder movement. In addition, you can express yourself in the role of a designer, creating unique things for the mod. Favorite "merzlyak" will appreciate your efforts and will be grateful for your care.
Before you arm yourself with knitting needles and yarn, you need to take measurements from the tail model and make a pattern.
- The circumference of the chest and waist, the length of the back – the main measurements.
- Chest circumference: measured at the widest point of the body under the front paws.
- Waist girth: measured at the thinnest point of the body in front of the hind legs.
- Back length: put the collar on the dog and measure the length from it to the waistline.
The basic measurement for building patterns – the length of the backrest. To find out the length of the side of the square of the grid, divide the length of the back by 6. Now it remains to draw the pattern, transferring it over the grid to paper.
When transferring, do not forget to check that the circumference of the chest and waist coincides with the actual size of the dog. If necessary, reduce or increase the width of the pattern. Measure the distance between the legs and their girth at the base so that when knitting, leave slots for the sleeves in the right place and the right length.
Sweater Knitting Tips
Start knitting with a rubber band. The number of loops should correspond to the waist circumference of the pet.
Gradually add loops on both sides of the product. When you finish to the slits for the sleeves, the number of loops should correspond to the chest volume.
Having tied to the slits for the sleeves, close the hinges until you get the slits of the required length.
When finished with the slits, do not forget to re-insert the hinges that are closed to the slits.
After reaching the neck of the sweater, close each row in several loops, narrowing the neck to the place of the collar. At the same time, follow the symmetry.
Do not forget to periodically check knitting with the scheme.
Sleeves, too, start to knit with elastic (if it is provided). Their width and length depends on your vision of the model, but it is not necessary to knit too long – the cuffs will quickly wear out.
Do not use pure wool in the manufacture of knitted clothes, otherwise irritation to your pet is ensured, and during the walk he will be busy fighting barbed clothes. Yarn should be mixed with acrylic or other synthetics. Avoid pure synthetics that do not heat and will perform an exclusively decorative function.

Changing the summer wardrobe for the autumn, you will definitely find a knitted sweater that you want to get rid of. But do not rush to send the item to the trash! Having made some manipulations, you will be able to please your dog with a wonderful blouse, pants and hat.
In addition to the sweater, you will need scissors, a large gypsy needle and a ball of yarn for knitting.
Measure the length of the back of the dog from neck to tail, set aside on the sleeve of the sweater and cut.
It is desirable that the elastic sleeves fall on the neck, although the flight of design ideas can tell you other interesting solutions.
Cut out the holes for the legs.
Blouse sleeves, two squares, cut from the bottom of the back or the chest of your sweater. It is advisable to carve them out so that the elastic of the sleeve is at the bottom.
Now fold the patterns in half and sew.
Sew the sleeves to the holes for the legs.
Cut a piece from the bottom of the back or chest of your sweater. Its width should be equal to your pet’s waist size plus 5 cm for the seam and free fit (so that the pants are not too tight). The length of the workpiece is at your discretion, depending on your design vision of the final result.
Fold the workpiece in half, so that the gum is at the bottom. Start stitching from the top, but sew not until the end, but exactly down to the bottom of the priests, from where they will start their trouser legs.
The top of the pants should "sit" under the armpits of the front legs of the dog, and the seam should be on the tum.
Now determine the length of the leg and cut the part opposite the not sewn seam (this will be the leg). Turn the stitched detail on the face, try on the blank on the doggie and determine the place for the “pop” hole.
From the side without a seam cut hole for the priests.
Sew leg from the bottom to the beginning of the hole for the priests.
Twist the top of the pants, stitch and insert the gum. Take an elastic band of such length that it does not dig into the body of the pet, but at the same time it can securely hold the pants.
Blouse and pants are ready.
Cut off the second sleeve from your sweater.
Lift the sleeve of the sweater at the cut-off point to the elastic, sew it to the elastic.
Cap multifunctional: it can be worn on the head, and can be used as a neck to the sweater.
Winter set is ready!
To cut the places of the products do not hesitate and do not dissolve, sheathe them in several layers or with frequent stitches of yarn, so clothes longer preserve a presentable look.
