We sew a non-warmed vest with a high fleece collar, top – raincoat fabric (oxford 160-200 den, or analogues), a fleece lining, adjustment on the neck and waist, elastic around the neck and bottom of the vest.
Any tailoring begins with the removal of measurements. Measurements are removed without "stocks" and allowances.
BS – back length (the length of the desired vest)
AB – neck half-grip at the widest point
DG – poluobhvat chest
AB – vest length at the bottom
BM – gate height
CL – the distance between the front legs
It looks like our vest on the diagram.
1 – is DG minus 15-20% of DG. Those. if we sew a vest on a border collie with a chest girth of 54 cm (half-grip – 27), then 1 – from 20 to 25 cm, we sew a vest “for growth” therefore we made 25. You can make a full semi-grip, but it will be superfluous and only interfere dog
In the diagram above, the patterns for the vest. The designations remain the same.
B-B1-A in total give a half-neck. Since we later make a rubber again “for growth”, here we are making a small plus. The allowances are left only on the lines marked in purple.
For the manufacture we need
raincoat fabric (oxford 160-200 den, or analogues)
We cut out the two upper parts from the raincoat fabric and one lower one, two upper ones from the fleece, one lower one and a collar, leaving an allowance of about 5 cm at the exit of the collar, we will need it in order to put holitny for an elastic band there.
We sew the two upper parts of the raincoat fabric along the seam along the back (in the BS scheme). I prefer that everything would be neat and beautiful afterwards, and also make two finishing lines along the main seam left and right. We do the same with fleece details.
Now sew along the side seam (in the diagram B1). Similarly, we process
As a result, we obtain two parts of the raincoat fabric and fleece.
In the collar part through holniteny we insert a rubber band of circular cross section with tips and retainers.
We sew the collar along the bottom (in the BM diagram). And hem edge, so that would rezinochka freely moved inside.
We sew the collar first to the front side of the raincoat part, then to the lining part (on the diagram B-B1-A). Follow the side seams and the centers of the parts, they must match on all the details.
This is what we end up with. You can still make a line along this seam, stitching raincoat and fleece.
On the lower part from the side seam on the left side to the side seam with the right we sew a usual elastic band. It is convenient to use the quilting guide.
At this stage we can warm our vest with padding polyester or holofiber. Holofiber is more comfortable and warmer when worn. We connect the details with pins of raincoat with details of fleece, first along the bottom. Using the quilting guide we quilt our waistcoat. Our vest is not large in size, so we do not quilted much, for a large vest or if we warm the vest, we need to do more.
At the bottom of the insert rezinochku. Small detail but thanks to her, the vest will be better “sitting” on the dog, and will not allow moisture and snow to fall under the vest. Also, this nuance is particularly relevant for males, so that the vest remains dry.
Similarly, quilting the top of the vest.
Left just a little bit. I prefer to “run through” with a zigzag or overlock all over the edge, it will somewhat simplify the sewing of a slanting inlay. Sew on slanting tape.
We sew to the bottom of the strap from the sling, having previously sewed plastic accessories to it (fastex and adjusting buckle). You can use Velcro tape ("sticky tape") instead of plastic fittings, but this tape has one minus, wool sticks to it.
