Adorable 'Wonky' Scottish lamb video goes viral after being born with bent neck (2025)

People from all over the world have been following the animal's journey on Instagram.

A lamb on a Scottish island has gone viral on social media after being born with a bent neck. The animal was born on the island of Tiree last month, and has since earned thousands of fans from across the world.

The youngster was discovered by tea business and croft Tiree Tea with a crick in her neck. The lamb, named Wonky, was crushed in the womb by her brother, resulting in her neck and legs being bent.

On March 30, Tiree Tea shared a video onto its Instagram of Wonky shortly after she was born. The clip, which has since received more than 73,000 likes, shows the lamb lying on the ground near her mother and brother struggling to lift herself off the ground.

The video then shows Tiree Tea co-owner Rhoda Meek bringing the lamb inside. Meek describes the baby sheep as having "quite the zest for life" but "a little on the wonky side".

According to the Tiree Tea website, it was unclear if Wonky would survive after being crushed in the womb. However, in the days since her birth, she has started "to thrive".

Despite being born with a crick in her neck, the lamb has made remarkable progress. In a separate video, Tiree Tea co-owner Rhoda Meek assured fans that Wonky is "doing just fine".

Meek stated: "So there's been a lot of interest and a lot of concern and a lot of love for Wonky and Wonky is doing just fine right now, so hopefully it will stay that way. For people who are new, Wonky was squashed in the womb by her brother.

"That meant that her neck and her legs were pretty much kind of squished and couldn't move, so she bent into shape. With time and TLC and a little bit of practice, she should un-wonk.

"Is Wonky doing okay? Yes, Wonky is doing just fine.

"She is loving life, she's walking. Her neck is not too bad and she's trying to run, so these are all excellent signs."

The Instagram updates posted by Tiree Tea have regularly received tens of thousands of likes, with some videos even hitting more than 100,000. The lamb has earned fans across Scotland and beyond, who have been following along with her journey.

In the latest update shared by Tiree Tea, Wonky's neck appears noticeably less bent. Her backside has been painted orange, so that she can be easily spotted amongst the other lambs.

One comment on the new post reads: "Wow! She looks so great! You did such a great job looking out for her."

A second Instagram user posted: "Look how much Wonky has progressed! I love her!"
